So the time is finally right and I have broken out the spring checkerboard tablecloth. You know I often under-design my tables. This time I got out ribbons and vases of spring greenery and even my green crystal dealy bobbers, all of which looked really good with the cloth. However, when I set it up, it just didn't need all the stuff. The cloth pattern is active enough and all of the extra things were just too much. so I ended up just marching tulips and candles down the middle of the table and that was that.
Although it looked okay in real life, it didn't photograph well. The camera sometimes seems to need more incident for the pictures to be interesting. I had a tiny pot of real hydrangeas that did duty as a photo prop, but when the company arrived they were on the counter next to the hors d'oeuvres. The table didn't need them.
Our dinner party was small but fun as we got to know some new friends. We had spinners (marinated flank steak tournedos) for the first time this year. Even though the rain was just pouring down, Mike cranked up the barbeque and cooked them just right.
