I am breathing a sigh of relief....I got all of the butterflies waxed without making any spills or major blunders. I always think I am going to be so much more precise than it turns out I can be, but it makes me crazy when my hand shakes or I accidentally burn myself on the tjanting and splash wax where it shouldn't go. Once that happens the mark cannot be removed. Despite the inevitable wobblies and color creep, I am pretty happy with this runner right now. In fact, it may be as pretty as it ever will be. Wax has so much personality and dimension there is always a let down when it is removed. It is too bad it won't stand up to washing. The next step is to paint the butterflies, probably with the same yellow I used on the background (weld) and then wax over that. I expect the indigo to color the background blue and green and seep in around the veining in the butterflies outlining the shapes in the wings...sort of. I hope. Onward.
