When the sun shines in winter our days are crisp and clear, but our warmest days in August are sometimes blunted by fog. Today started misty but just after noon the clouds began to lift. My sister and I took the opportunity to take our favorite hike over to Deception Pass. I have been walking in this park for over sixty years.
How lucky am I?
The trail goes from beach to cliff through meadow and woods. At the highest point over the bay I looked down and saw a family of river otters swimming together; a mom and four babies. We could see them above and under the water, slipping through either element like eels.
